The Caribbean stretches for 1000 miles between north and South America with a dozen or so main islands and many, many more smaller islands; some of them among the few hidden gems which remain relatively untouched by the mass travel market of today.

Barbados has something for everyone but has not compromised its idyllic charm by becoming too developed. Here you'll find beautiful white sand beaches, swaying palms beside warm blue seas and some of the friendliest people in the world. Sandy Lane is simply the best hotel. The rooms and suites are simply breathtaking, the facilities are magnificent and the spa is the finest, anywhere. The Colony Club is a deservedly popular hotel with an elegant yet informal ambience. Four fresh water swimming pools, set out in lagoon fashion, meander through the manicured gardens down to the superb, palm-fringed sandy beach. The Fairmont Royal Pavilion is one of the leading resorts on the island. The elegant design of the guest rooms is influenced by Caribbean flavours which have been interpreted with refined and contemporary touches. The House is a sanctuary of privacy and peace, with quintessential service from a bygone era, this intimate hotel blends chic design and minimalist grace with the essence of the Caribbean.

Heading south from St Vincent in the Grenadines, you'll discover the Gem of the Caribbean, Mustique.

Mustique is a secluded 1,400 acre island surrounded by beaches of pure white sand. It is a private retreat of barefoot luxury for those who visit and a peaceful setting where one can rest, recuperate and indulge. Mustique is so peaceful that even during peak season there is little traffic or congestion. You may be totally alone on the beaches and rest assured that even renowned spots such as lovely Macaroni Beach remain tranquil and uncrowded. The Cotton House is an oasis of tranquility on this beautiful island.

English is the common language but due to an international scope of owners and guests, languages such as French, Italian, German and Dutch are readily spoken.

At the eastern extremity of the Greater Antilles lie the British Virgin Islands, an archipelago of 60 plus islands, islets and cays, scattered over 575 square miles. They are quiet and unspoilt, with very small populations. Peter Island is a one-of-a-kind luxury private island resort. Peter Island combines idyllic escapism with stylish accommodation, first class facilities and excellent service. Biras Creek is a naturally beautiful and romantic hotel in an idyllic setting. Biras Creek is a member of the prestigious Relais and Chateaux group. A unique hideaway resort, set on an isthmus at the northern end of Virgin Gorda and accessible only by sea. Little Dix Bay is restful, understated and idyllic - a perfect crescent shaped bay with its white sand and translucent sea, is host to one of the Caribbean's top resorts. A coral reef just off the beach provides excellent snorkeling and protects the bay, ensuring calm water for swimming year round.

Antigua boasts a beach for every day of the year; the sand is white, the sea is clear and warm and its difficult not to just lie back and take things easy. Carlisle Bay has brought contemporary luxury to the Caribbean. It is located on the unspoilt south coast of Antigua, with a backdrop of rolling hills and lush tropical rainforest and enjoys one of the most ravishing beaches on the island. Jumby Bay Resort lies hidden away off the coast of Antigua and is located on one of the most exclusive vacation islands in the West Indies. Curtain Bluff is a gourmet's paradise in secluded luxury. Standing proudly on a bluff flanked by two beautiful white sand beaches, Curtain Bluff has been in the same caring private ownership for over 40 years.

St Barths is a stylish island, proud of its reputation as an exclusive resort. The whole ambience is sophisticated and chic Mediterranean, rather than West Indian. Eden Rock has an atmosphere all of its own and one that has to be experienced first hand to truly grasp its magic. Located within walking distance of the fantastic shops and restaurants in the village of St Jean, Eden Rock has a beautiful sandy beach with comfortable loungers and umbrellas. Hotel St. Barth Isle de France has an informal, elegant French Colonial chic and a stunning beachfront setting. This property combines everything the French are renowned for, from the simple light cuisine to the exquisitely appointed rooms and suites. Such an environment is the ideal setting for holiday relaxation and the best policy is to adopt the same attitude as early in your stay as possible.
